Every single meal, all food I put into my mouth needs to be "clean.". I have never successfully completed a challenge this long. I have participated in challenges that last this long, but have never made it all the way to the end.
Although I am hoping for 100% clean meals, I know that is not realistic and there may very well be situations that I am not in control of. When those situations arise I will prepare and plan as best I can. In all likelihood those situations will only span one meal, and I can make it through one meal, right?!?! (YES!). That is all we can control anyway, one meal at a time.
The reason I choose 6 weeks is because in 6 weeks from today we leave for Kauai for our "Honeymoon." My husband and I will have been married for a year at that point, but we never took a honeymoon. Ok...I know...we got married in Cabo, but we spent the last three days after the wedding with our families so we didn't count that as our honeymoon.
Right now I only eat clean now and then, maybe 50% of the time. I need to get closer to 80%-90% of the time. I need this "lifestyle change" I have been working on to finally become my normal lifestyle. I know change is slow, but I won't change if I don't fully commit to making the changes, for too long now I am been only 50% committed if even that much, so I really shouldn't be that surprised that I haven't lost the weight and created my new lifestyle habits because I am still living by my old habits!
Our bodies are not designed to handle all the chemicals in processed foods. It is amazing how much better I feel when I eat real foods. I sleep better, I am in better moods, my skin is clearer, I have more energy, and overall I just feel good.
The biggest difference I have noticed when I eat clean is that I don't feel constant cravings. I have always wondered why food seems to have this hold on me, why I was constantly craving crunchy, salty foods, or chocolate. Well, those chemicals they put in those processed foods, that is what they are designed to do! They are meant to be addictive because then you will want more, which means you will buy more which means they meet their bottom line ($cash money$) and you just get a bottom. Ok corny...sorry, but it's true!
