But before I start talking about the week, let me give a brief explanation of what the Ultimate Reset is!
The Beachbody Ultimate Reset is a no-starvation, inner-body tune-up designed to rid your body of toxins. The program lasts 21 days and in the program you eat "clean," organic foods and take supplements designed to help your body remove toxins from your cells and organs. The program has three phases
- Week 1 - Reclaim your body’s natural balance
- Week 2 - Release the harmful materials you may be storing within you
- Week 3 - Restore your system to its maximum health
We take in so many toxins through the food we eat or just within our environment that I decided I need a reset.
Not only did I want the reset to help my body get healthier but I NEEDED a reset to help me hit my birthday goal, but more importantly to help me change my habits and my lifestyle.
I did not post last weekend, not because I had a bad week, but because I had that same week I had been having over and over again for months now and I couldn't figure out what I could write to give advise or be inspiring. I sat down many times and tried writing, I had nothing. That is why I decided to do the reset. I needed something to help me!
I had changed my habits for the better, way better than before, but it still wasn't good enough to hit the goals I want to hit!
I did not follow the meal plan exactly as it was laid out, but it was okay eat any meal during week 1 at any time, and I took advantage of that when I needed too. I did try most of the meals, But the meals involved seaweed were out for me, I have tried before and I just can't stomach seaweed.
I think adjusting the meals to work for me is why the week was successful for me. I am in a facebook group with others who are also doing the program an others mentioned they had struggled more than me. However, they also had been eating way worse that me leading up to the program. The foods in week 1 were really not a huge shift from my normal meals.
Now for the numbers! Remember before this I was either only losing one pound a week, or nothing. This week I lost 7 pounds! Yup 7! I was so happy to finally move past where I was stuck!
I did have challenges this week. We had a work celebration at a Mexican restaurant, and I did not eat one single chip! I ate my dinner before we went and sipped water while at dinner. The next day I had forgotten part of my meals so I had to make do with what I had at work, but everything I ate was still an allowed food, in the past this would have been an excuse for me to stop at the store and buy my favorite snacks to eat, but I am determined to stay on track this entire program! Tonight we have a family birthday party and I am going to pack my food and stay away from all other foods!
I am hoping to lose 15 pounds total for this reset, which will not get me to my goal of 130 by 30, but in will get me in to the 130's, I have not weighed in the 130's since my freshman year of high school, so it will mean a lot to me to be able to get back to the 130's.
Though the weight loss so far is great, and I have goals for more, the real purpose to the program for me is a learn better eating habits. I need to live a 90/10 lifestyle, I know people say 80/20, but that 20% is too much for me because that 20% quickly turns into 50% and that I am back where I started. For me this program is teaching me how to eat clean and healthy 100% of the time, and then I can allow for 10% indulgence from time to time, because I can't skip celebration dinners forever, but my day to day nutrition needs to be much better than it has been.
Yesterday I meal planned for week 2, today I went shopping and tomorrow I start week 2!
Below are some of my favorite meals from week 1!
